Sheehan and USTCC WRX at LA Auto Show

The Sheehan Motor Racing USTCC spec Subaru WRX race car was parked right up front in the Subaru of America exhibit at the LA Auto Show from January 2nd – January 11th. Several team members were on hand to answer questions during the opening weekend, including team driver Gary Sheehan, crew chief Joel Gat and engine program manager Trey Cobb. Gary Sheehan signed over 1,000 autographs during the show.

Gary Sheehan drove the Subaru of America/Cobb/Stoptech/DMS WRX to a dominating win at the 2003 USTCC season finale, ahead of Tom Lepper’s 2nd place Honda Accord and Ali Arsham’s 3rd place Honda Civic. Gary Sheehan drove the Subaru of America/Cobb Tuning/Stoptech WRX to its first win of the 2003 season, ahead of Neil Vanni’s Honda Civic and Tom Lepper’s Honda Accord. After a morning practice session, the first qualifying session of the weekend was held on Saturday afternoon. The weathermen had been threatening rain all weekend, but as the cars rolled out on track it was dry as a bone. Neil Vanni grabbed the provisional pole position with a lap time of 1:19.149.
